She was born to a journalist family. Her father Robert Albert Tur is a popular journalist and her mother Marika Gerrard. Her parents divorced in 2003. Her father later changed his gender from male to female and named Hanna Zoey Tur. She has one sibling brother named James Tur- a medical student.

She also worked as a correspondent in NewsNation with Tamron Hall. Since 2012 now, she works as a correspondent for TV series like NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, Today, and Weekend Weekend Today.
In an event in Florida, Trump supporters booed her and verbally harassed them. But, following the incident, Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway addressed the issue and said that Trump never wanted anyone to attack or harass her.
